Comparison
ADHD Singles vs Mattr
A London app for neurodivergent and alternative singles, or a site where ADHD is the common ground.
- Quick to join
- 18+ only
Mattr and ADHD Singles share a starting point: dating should work for people whose brains do not fit the swipe-and-forget model. Mattr is a London dating app that launched in May 2023 as a dating app for people with autism and ADHD. Its founder, Jamie Johnston, has spoken about his own ADHD diagnosis. ADHD Singles, by contrast, is all about ADHD: its members have it, suspect it, or simply like dating people who do, and most live in Britain or America.

Who it is for now
Mattr's focus has widened since launch. Its iPhone listing now describes it as an inclusive app for LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, creative and alternative singles, and its website calls it a singles club as well as a dating app. That breadth will suit people who see neurodivergence as one part of a wider sense of being different. ADHD Singles stays with ADHD. Everyone here has it or chose to date someone who does, so ADHD is the shared ground rather than one label among several.
No swiping on either
This is where the two are closest. Mattr does not use swiping; it shows a small number of hand-picked profiles each day, with suggested venues and conversation starters. ADHD Singles keeps it short too: a handful of suggestions a day near you, matched on what you have told it you want, so the stack never turns into a scroll. If choice overload is what puts you off the big apps, both are designed around that.
Features with ADHD in mind
Mattr has some thoughtful touches: a time-out switch so you can take a visible break, video replies and voice-activated reading of messages, mood check-ins, and an Honesty Box for sharing deal-breakers up front. Its Mattr Club adds perks and in-person events. On ADHD Singles, messages wait for you until you are ready, members who reliably reply earn a badge that shows it, and a members' feed, polls and group chats of up to 50 people give you lower-pressure ways to get to know people. Your profile says what you are looking for, so nobody has to guess.
Where you can use it
When we checked in October 2026, Mattr's iPhone listing named London as its area and showed its latest update as September 2024; coverage in 2024 described plans to expand across the UK. If you live outside London, check the app for people near you before you commit. ADHD Singles runs in any web browser and on any phone, can be saved to your home screen like an app, and has members across the UK and the USA, with smaller groups elsewhere.
Checks and support
Mattr uses face verification and describes its profiles as verified. ADHD Singles offers a free ID check or a short video check with a moderator, screens photos and messages as they are uploaded, warns you if someone tries to move your conversation to another app, and has real people answering support around the clock. See the safety page.
What each one costs
Mattr is a download with paid tiers and Standout Messages to buy. ADHD Singles gives Classic members a set number of messages each day, and the paid plans are all on our pricing page.
Which suits you?
Choose Mattr if you are in London, you like its wider creative and alternative community, and features such as the time-out switch and Honesty Box appeal. Choose ADHD Singles if you want ADHD to be the common ground, you live elsewhere in the UK or in the USA, and you would like the option of a laptop as well as your phone. Both are quick to try.
